A Guide to Pyrmont Ultimo
Local shoppers prefer to spend time and money here on the Pyrmont, Ultimo peninsula. By shopping locally they are supporting the local economy, community and environment.
Visitors to our global city seek authentic local experiences beyond cookie cutter malls, chain store operations and homogenised downtown corporate culture. Precincts like Pyrmont and Ultimo offer visitors to our local area experiences safely off the beaten path.
In March 2014, the City of Sydney commissioned an extensive intercept survey of shoppers here in Pyrmont. According to the survey:
•    46% of Pyrmont shoppers live locally
•    37% of all Pyrmont shoppers work locally
•    71% of Pyrmont shoppers shop locally two to three times a week.
•    62% of Pyrmont customers dine in or take away from a restaurant or café weekly or more often
•    14% of Pyrmont customers came from Overseas and a further 5% from other states
To address the community’s desire to shop locally, the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce is once again producing “Where will the Locals Go,” which will appear as a lift out guide in the centre pages of the City Hub. In addition a stand-alone glossy booklet will be distributed throughout Pyrmont, Ultimo, Darling Harbour and the CBD; key retailers, pubs, bottle shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries, tourist destinations, UTS; TAFE as well as to residents in Pyrmont and Ultimo.
Where the Locals go is a joint initiative of the City of Sydney, the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and the AltMedia. To find out how you can be included in this annual, keeper edition, call 9212-5677.
