It’s been a month of partying for The Star, celebrating its 21st birthday. The festivities have included special offers across its restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, as well as a prize give-away of 21 VW Golfs to 21 lucky winners.

The Star was Sydney’s first legal casino. Born Sydney Harbour Casino in 1995 as a temporary entity, it occupied an enviable location at the edge of Pyrmont Bay overlooking Darling Harbour. In November 1997, Star City Casino was officially declared Sydney’s first permanent casino, with a grand opening that featured names such as Diana Ross, Tom Jones, kd lang, Kenny G, Air Supply and Natalie Cole.

In 2009 the casino underwent a major refurbishment and reopened in 2011 as The Star.

Throughout its lifespan, The Star has played host to many prestigious celebrities: Brad Pitt, Elton John, Coldplay, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry just to name a few. The Lyric Theatre, which quickly became one of Sydney’s premier venues, has provided the stage for some of the best shows and performances produced in this city in the last twenty one years.

With dining options across a range of cuisines and styles, popular bars, boutique shopping, quality entertainment and of course it’s picturesque location facing Sydney Harbour, The Star has established itself as one of Sydney’s stellar attractions (pun intended).

Happy Birthday!
