The Star is planning a number of upgrades and will lodge a development application with the Department of Planning and Environment. Known as “Modification 14” the application will include aesthetic, structural and functional improvements designed to enhance the overall experience for visitors to The Star and guests at the Astral Hotel.

The proposed works vary in scope and type. In alignment with The Star’s sustainability objectives there will be improvements to utilities infrastructure such as plumbing and energy fixtures.  New escalators will be installed in the retail/food arcade, providing access to the main gaming floor. Staff amenities and operational areas will be upgraded to provide more efficient internal functioning.

Among the more conspicuous changes will be a revamping of the Porte-Cochere at the Jones Bay Road valet parking entrance. This will complement a refurbished Astral Hotel Lobby and entry to the Main Casino. The windows along the eastern building facade will be replaced by light boxes featuring retail displays. In addition, the walk from the hotel lobby to Jones Bay Road will be a shopping thoroughfare flanked by designer and luxury retail stores.

VIP guests will be able to enjoy new dining and bar facilities as well as an enhanced gaming space in the Sovereign VIP Gaming Room. There will be a pre-function lobby area for guests to mingle prior to entering event rooms.

The main entrance on Pyrmont Street will be illuminated with custom lighting and feature a reflection pool and specially created Star sculpture, establishing the desired mood of glamour and elegance.

Opulence is clearly the theme with gold being the dominating colour in an artist’s impressions of the finished renovations. Refurbishment of the Astral Tower and Residences has already begun and should be completed this year. The remaining development will commence pending planning approval.
