As you are no doubt aware, the proposed Pyrmont Bay Market, which should have made its debut under beautiful spring skies last Sunday September 1, is now in limbo. The NSW government’s red tape threatens to suffocate the life out of it unless we impel them to be quick and decisive and allow the community to use what should be freely accessible public space. The PUCC has created a petition requesting the government immediately reverse its decision to deny access and instead give Pyrmont Bay Park back to the people.
There is a two decade long tradition of markets in Pyrmont. They have always proved to be among the most popular in the city, offering high quality produce and artisan goods. Markets provide start-up opportunities for small and entrepreneurial businesses in the area, including entertainers, food outlets, makers, retailers, and others. They also provide a social hub where locals can gather, form friendships, discover new businesses, and reinforce the community spirit.
Our petition on gathered over 200 signatures in only two days and that number is steadily climbing. Please click the link and sign so that we can finally hold our market in Pyrmont Bay Park. -save-pyrmont-bay-market
