Two Seabins were installed at Jones Bay Wharf on Tuesday March 10th as part of the Seabins For Sydney Harbour Project. Crew from the Sunrise morning program were there to cover the installation event and the weather was graciously accommodating. Late last year, Jones Bay Wharf started a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the purchase and placement of the Seabins, and to encourage participation by other marinas and waterfront property owners.
Seabins collect plastic and other rubbish discarded carelessly into our waterways. They can also collect a small amount of oil and other liquid pollutants. The more Seabins placed around the harbour, the more sea litter collected and the cleaner our harbour will ultimately become.
