The Bays Market District covers the foreshore and waters around Blackwattle Bay, which includes Sydney Fish Markets.
By now, most people are aware that the fish markets are to be refurbished and relocated to the other side of the bay. It is also publicly known that a new residential development will occupy the space vacated by the markets.
However, the devil is in the details and he is being elusive.
The size and scope of the residential development appears to have been understated and additional elements have not been widely promoted, according to residents. An article published by City News recently reported concerns by locals about the increase in pollution, traffic, noise and activity that may result if the Bay Precinct plans are carried out as described.
